In Type 7, you take command of a German Type 7 U-boat in a brutal, thrilling, and atmospherically immersive World War II scenario. You can primarily play it alone in solitaire mode, but there is also a mode where a friend can help you with their own U-boat.
As you improve your crew and upgrade your ship round by round, you fight for sheer survival in secret missions. A 63 cm long wooden U-boat serves as storage for torpedoes and fuel during the game. The deck gun's shells are kept in a 20-round magazine. All game tokens are laser-cut and engraved. Precisely crafted wooden components transport you back in time and deep beneath the ocean's surface. Sometimes you call a wolf pack for support or dive deep to evade attacks – but risk the pressure crushing your hull like a tin can at any second.
This game captivates with an authentic, intense, and ruthless atmosphere and also includes a game mode for experienced players, a solitaire single-player mode, and a co-op mode for 2 players.
THE TARGET DISC SYSTEM
The use of hidden target discs instead of already revealed, "known" enemies is what makes this game so special. During your mission, you may encounter a variety of different contacts, all represented by such a target disc. These could be "ghosts" – false contacts or misinterpreted sounds – but also approaching torpedoes, sea mines, cargo ships, tankers, and even enemy destroyers and battleships.
Initially, you only know the zone where you detected the encounter and what types of enemies might be present there. You start by selecting all these potential targets from the stack of target discs, shuffling them, and then drawing the set number of opponents for your encounter and placing them in the disc holders. You return the remaining discs face down to the table.
Each target has three different alert levels and changes its behavior as its level changes. Sliders only display the values you can actually see, depending on how you detect or sight them, as well as the target's reaction depending on whether it has already spotted you.
Type7 can be roughly compared to THE HUNTER, but with a FOG OF WAR effect that this genre truly shouldn't be without.

- Deal with various types of damage, such as onboard fires, jammed weapons or ammunition, damaged ballast tanks, wounded crew members, and much more.
- As commander, manage your crew's panic level.
- Deploy an Elite Squad team to complete secret missions on land.
- Attack enemies on the surface with your deck gun and use your flak to fend off attacking aircraft, or attack with torpedoes while underwater.
- Locate your enemies using sound detection, or try to spot them with the lookout or periscope.
- Load or unload torpedoes. Choose between different torpedoes and torpedo warheads.
- Try not to trigger the enemies' alarm level too early and attack at the right moment to inflict the most damage.
- Navigate around sea mines.
- Eliminate your enemies before they call for reinforcements.
- Historically, write a completely new story in Type7.
The game components are engraved but not painted.
